Growth In Animation Industrty : from pencil to pixels

Animation; the term gives an instant thought of cartoons and films based on computer graphics but prior to this a technique called Phenakistoscope was there which had simple drawings which moved simultaneously giving the effect of animation. There were several animated features created by using these drawings which differed from the previous one. This method disappeared by the end of the twenty first century and drawings were directly scanned or drawn into computers. The computer animation is the rapid display of a sequence of images of 2-D or 3-D artwork or model positions in order to create an illusion of movement. 3D animations give the impression to look at characters from all angles like in real life.

The technique use nowadays like cell – shaded animation , morph target animation , skeletal animation , motion capture , crowd simulation ,etc are all the latest techniques which are for designing all the 3D animation and graphics . They all comprise of pixels – which you may be knowing are the smallest unit of everything displayed on the computer monitor . With such new techniques , a new era has emerged in the animation industry and is taking it to new heights of success and has brought new oppurtunities in this field .

The 3D animations are very realistic and are used for giving special effects in movies. The film and advertisement sectors provide ample opportunities for the growth of animation industry. The employments of computers and software's have fastened the pace of animation industry. The growth of its use in gaming industry has made it a fast growing and dynamic field. To provide an in depth description of product we now no longer depend on still images, 3D animation is the answer to create an interactive environment where an individual can relate to the objects and enjoy the virtual world created around him. The global growth of the sector is projected to grow to 35 billion dollars from 25 billion dollars in the next three years , Nasscom study added. As a result, the demand for animation professionals will rise to around three lakhs in the next two to three years, the study pointed out . The growth is fuelled as India has emerged as a destination of choice for outsourcing work and is gaining advantage over countries like Japan, China, South Korea and Philippines. Indian animators, today, are becoming a natural choice the world-over due to their familiarity advantage with English. Thus, India is the hottest outsourcing destination, the study revealed. But the study also revealed that the country at present simply doesn't have the requisite number of trained manpower to deliver the services. Qualitative world-class training on leading and relevant technologies is the need of the hour.

The animation industry is into various segments of entertainment, education, web designing, medicine, defence and gaming. The entertainment animation industry has been the chief driver for growth with all major channels like television, movies, direct to DVD, special effects recording strong sustained growth.

Good times ahead for Animation Industry apirants as "Hanuman", "Hanuman Returns", “Ramayan” and now "Bal Ganesh"... the string of successful animation movies is an indication of the fast growth that the Indian animation industry is poised for after the development of some very advanced software. As far as the Indian animation movie production is concerned, a new phase has now started after advanced software has been developed. Technology is key to the growth of the animation sector . As of today, India has about 200 animation, 40 VFX and 35 game development studios, but the country needs more workstations to make optimal use of the potential that the industry has. The gaming animation industry, on the other hand, is set for phenomenal growth with the mobile phones becoming more and more content savvy.

Right now, about 300,000 students are undergoing training in animation technology across India. Most of the professionals are still at the entry level, but looking at the way the industry is growing, even these 300,000 professionals will not be enough to handle the work load in the coming years. We need more than the 10,000 artistes and 2,000 programmers that we have today," . The future for India's animation movie sector, as these experts feel, is bright. A number of Bollywood production houses like B.R. Films, Adlabs , Pritish Nandy Communication and UTV, besides Percept Picture Company and Shemaroo, are into making animation movies. Thus , we can say that the employment oppurtunities in this sector are increasing at a very high rate and it will thus attract the crowd towards it .

The industries that are using 3D animations are interior designing, medical visualizations, architecture naval architecture and corporate presentations. There are several interactive 3D animation software that enables one to visualize and redesign a room. These are used by architectures for designing homes for their clients. This can be used in medical field training for explaining various concepts, phenomenon and surgical techniques to give a better and clear vision to the scholars. Then in naval field it is used in designing of ships by making a 3D ship model which helps in quick progress of ship building projects. In corporate world too it is used for preparing impressive presentations and interactive websites.

It has taken over every sector no matter which it concerns to . Thus , we can say that with its diversity and effectiveness , it has left no field untouched by its impact .

Story:-

Dr. Chandrashekhar Hariharan educated in garden city of India, qualified as a Charted Accounted in the year 1981 from Bangalore city is a well known Entrepreneur.

I stared my venture in to this big world not as a Charted Accounted but jumped into the fascinating field of journalism where I worked with Indian express in Bombay with Business India and also with Times of India.

But God has something more say’s Dr. Chandrashekhar Hariharan.

A catchy line from magazine on International Management gave me and intellective jolt the unforgotten words with still knocks my memory which stated, “You should do what you know best and enjoy the most when you to it”. I found a road for myself which seems to be the path newer taken before, for it become the most important task for me, “knowing myself”, “finding happiness” along with bread winning.

The process of retrospection was long it brought lot of changes in my life. Change of places, change of job & meeting new people it took me from west of India (East of Gujrat in the Dahod, Vishkhapatnam, Sriganganagar in Rajasthan), to southern India then to the north of India (Delhi) working with non-government organizations.

1991 when I was in Dehradun, earthquake hit the near by areas like Kashi and I could stoop myself form getting involved in the rescue work. The next 4 years were spend working with an academy concerned with mountain studies and helping the nearby districts around Dehradun.

After sometime true realization enlightened me. I along with the academy stared my own organization that and to sought the value and concern for a product rendering service to the people. We were tagged crazy minded because we did not possessed sufficient funds to start up with such an organization. But with my iron headed determination and will I finally established a firm know as BCIL (Biotech Consortium India Limited) which continues in the present day .

My first achievement was my project called “Trans Indus”. This was the opening of the gates of success for BCIL. The path that I was walking on was no longer unknown and then there was no stopping. The projects kept on coming my way.

It was not like an entrepreneurs journey but it was more like what I wanted to do, I had done and I was in the search, of people who take it as a value.

The fundamental purpose of BCIL is to offer eco-friendly products and solutions to the urban living which are ecologically efficient. It provides suitable assistance and sees to that the products it’s customers uses are ecologically sound or not.

It aims to save resources, air management and biomass planning and to provide a cleaner and green alternative option in every field.
